Question lost avatars after "Synchronise Users" tool

Hello all,

A few days ago I was trying to improve the performance of Kunena. One of the things I did was from the tools, run the "Synchronise Users" function.
I'm not sure if this was exacly the cause but after this all our existing users lost their Avatar.

It looks like new users can still create one, and it's also saved. But existing users don't have an avatar anymore. The folder with avatars is still existing, I checked.

Another thing I tried in the same session if that some Kunena DB tables had MyIsam as datanbase eniginge. Other had InnoDB. I changes all tables to InnoDB but I don't think that was the cause for loosing the avatars.

I hope someone has a clue...

hi Rich
I think misunderstanding, this is about Kunena version 5.2.14
the Fix you refer to is I think only for Kunena version 6.1 ?

Thank you Leen, that is exactly what I did: I checked the Delete lifetime ban users option :-/

@Rich:
Can I try this on my 5.2 install? I did not check if the file mentioned exists under my version too.

Hello,

I have just done a fix on the K5.2 branch for this issue : github.com/Kunena/Kunena-Forum/commit/23...879e5b040b263f06e081

Please me if it's working after applying changes

Hello xillibit

Yes that works if I make this change then the Avatars will continue to exist.
Tested this on a live site and also on a local site

Sorry guys... not that technical here.

First of all: Thanks a lot for diving into this!

I lost the avatars when I ran the tool on a live site.
If I re-run the tool with the new file (the one from Github) will it retrospectively repair the avatars?

Just trying to avoid running into more troubles.. ;-)

Thanks

I can't test it because I don't get this error, but go to /administrator/components/com_kunena/controllers/ and copy as backup the tools.php Afterwards remove the lines 341 - 361 then refresh your forum.

Thanks Rich,

Unfortunately that did not work :-/

I tried both without and with this option checked:

The only thing that changed is that it now seems that the component and module (kunena Latest) are loading an empty avatar. Until now it was loading nothing (just a dot)

EDIT:
Hold on...: The module is back to loading dots :-/
