done and the error persists, we checked ssh and ftp access rigths, these work.

From where does Kunena take the information for the upload (user, directory)?

Ok what we see is: The file is uploaded and lies in the attachment folder at the correct user id, but the we get the error Attachment cannot be saved, File "\" does not exist.

We have no idea anymore. This also happens when rights are set to 777.

edit: in joomla we can upload but we get copy failed. The file is uploaded and can be used in the media manager....

edit2: we started fresh, and now everything is working except the kunena upload error persists. the error concerning joomla media manager was solved........

atm we use the absolute path and think this must be right... are we wrong here?
We use strato v-server as provider.

all paths are pointing to writable directories and joomla shows no unwritable paths.

edit: As we did a fresh install, here is the configuration again. the template 3.0.6 is a edit4ed version. before we used the 4.0.8 templates, the error persists in all of them. This tenplate is in use atm as it fits the design of the website

Ok we found the basic error:

In table jos_kunena_attachments nothing is written since we migrated our site to a new server.
kunena is the only component which seems to have problems writing things to the database.

This explains why the file is uploaded and lying on the HDD, but kunena tells us there is nothing.

Perhaps this helps at hinting us in the right direction.

Thanks for your efforts
