Hello,
I have Latest Joomla (3.4.3) and I had kunena 4.03 - all perfect.

But when I updated to kunena 4.05, I noticed that in every reply in any thread , the Subscription is always "ticked" and kunena send to these users e-mails that the thread have new posts and their inbox is filling all the time which is very annoying.

I checked in my backend in kunena configuration in the option "Check Subscription Box" and is set to NO (as it should be because I had it to NO in kunena 4.03).
But still when you have logged in and you press REPLY to post, the tick box in subscription is always checked so when you reply, then you have made subscription to this thread!

Can you please check this bug?

Thank you and well done for the great forum you have made!

we just fixed it, before K4.0.4 it was broken.

Then the user settings is set to "Yes". User setting is overriding the kunena setting.

Thanks for the reply, but can you tell me exactly the steps to do so I fix this?
My settings for subscription is set to "NO" but still when you reply the subscrition is always ticked and subscribes all the threads that the users post.

What can I do to fix this with the overriding you tell me?

Thanks. :)

It is unfortunate (as with many new features and changes added to K 4.0) that there is no user documentation to explain what to do.

I do not know why the developers did not point you to the answer they have given before. The answer is in the topic K 4.0.3 Crypsis "automatically" subscribes to topic; Blue Eagle does not

I hope this information helps you. :)

Thanks for the answer sozzled, :)

but I forgot to tell you that the template I use in my Kunena 4.05 forum is the Blue Eagle (4.05) and I have never used the crypsis, so the problem I have with the "auto" subsciption is in the Blue Eagle.

I searched in the USER settings in kunena to see if there is an option to change the "yes" that overides the kunena configuration you told me but there is nothing to do.

As I said before I have already selected "NO" to subscription in Kunena Configuration.

So how to do this? Or it will be fixed in e.g. kunena 4.06?

Thanks again. :)

As I wrote earlier in this topic, there is no user documentation about this new feature. I was not made aware of this new feature until I noticed a "problem" here, at this forum, a little over a week ago (see Please disable "Check this box to be notified of replies to this topic" at www.kunena.org ).

The meaning of the configuration setting Configuration » Users » Subscriptions » Check Subscription Box has changed. I do not know when (i.e. which version of Kunena) it was changed; there are no release notes or other documentation to explain when, how (or why) this change occurred. Sorry, that's just how I understand things.

There was a problem—a defect—in the user profile preference in K 4.0.3 Crypsis; the user profile setting was not honoured. Crypsis was changed (in K 4.0.5) so that it now works the same as Blue Eagle. That is what 810 meant when he wrote that he had "fixed it".

If you want to change the default checkbox behaviour in K 4.0.5 (Crypsis or Blue Eagle) you need to modify the preference in the user profile. The configuration setting sets the initial value of the user preference; the "default" value is changed in the user profile settings. I know that sounds difficult to understand but, believe me, it's not easy to explain it, either. As I've just said, I've only just discovered this myself. :)
