Hello,

I am trying to install Kunena on a Joomla 3.4.5 site without success. The installation does not get past the preparing for installation screen. No error is shown see attached screenshot.

I have read through the other posts regarding installation problems and cleaned the Admin cache (and everything else)

I uninstall all the half-installed components and start as fresh as I can

Tried the linked version from another post pkg_kunena_v4.0.8-DEV_2015-12-02

The server versions are
PHP 5.4.45
MySql 5.5.40-36

Thanks for any help

It appears that your problem is not uncommon.

My suggestion is to read the [revised] upgrade guide for K 4.0 where is says:

"Download the [Kunena installation] package (to your PC—the installation package is located on the download page ) and install it by [using] the Joomla Extension Manager."

What the documentation doesn't tell you is that the update method that seems to work the best is to use the Upload Package File method. The other three methods, Install from Folder (i.e. the method you tried), Install from URL and the "automatic update" method), are not always reliable.

JInstaller: :Install: Can't find XML setup file.

Error
Path does not have a valid package.

This is a known problem for people who try the "automatic update" method. I suggest you try the Upload Package File method.

if you use cb, then disable the cb - system plugin then do the install again. after install enable the plugin again.

If no cb is installed, then clean cache, and try again. Also if its a clean install make sue that the kunena tables are removed on the database.

I have done as you have suggested. Cleaned both Site and Administrator caches and dropped the 1 Kunena table left in the database and uploaded the install from my drive. The installation goes a bit further and I can get a prepare installation OK check-mark but it is essentially the same result. :(

I also tried changing Browsers from Chrome to Firefox with no success.

Further thoughts, suggestions?

Many Thanks

ok, try to close the error. then go to administrator/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=install

this will load the kunena installer, without the bug in the modal.
