I do apologize if this question is beyond simplistic. I've been searching for hours trying to find an answer. Here's what I'm trying to do:

I have three main sections laid on out the forums. The first is a public area using captcha and e-mail to avoid spam. It has 2 child categories.

The second is for registered users only, It has four child categories.

These are working perfectly fine. The third on the other hand is not being nice. This is a section for Higher level users that I called Officers.

I created a Joomla group called Officers, added that group in the 'Special' Viewing Access Level.

In Kunena 4.0.5 I set the Officer parent category to the following:
Access Control Type = User Groups
Primary = Officers
Include child = no
Secondary = Officers
Child = no

I then set the child category in the same exact same fashion except two more options:
Allowed to Post = Officers
Allowed to Reply = Officers

== Please note: I also tried this using Access Level instead of User Groups but that didn't work either.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong. The Officer section is being hidden from public wish is correct, but Registered users that are NOT in the officer's group are able to see it, post, AND reply.

I'm missing something and the documentation was a bit outdated and didn't seem to help with this. I did of course find it very informative. So here's a clip of my Report config. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

I think you create the joomla user group level is the same level as registered, so you should check if Officers is under registered, if not then you need to change that.

Thank you for your reply. I did create the officer's group as a child of Registered.

I should have mentioned that, yes, they're in both the registered users and officer's group. Should they only be in officers?

Yes, that's exactly how they are setup, in both Registered and Officers group. Those are the only ones I want to be able to see the third forum category, but normal registered users can also see them (and post to them). So if the groups are set up correctly, then perhaps the fault is in how I've setup the forum?

Continued from last post as the forum would not allow me to post too many links.
