Kunena 6.3.0 released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.3.0 [K 6.3.0] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x/5.1.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.3

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

This question is very similar to a question asked in another (unanswered) topic started nearly a week ago: Is it possible to embed PDF files into Kunena posts?

It is not possible in K 3.0 to embed a PDF reader into the forum so that PDF files can be viewed within the forum (in the same way as it's possible to embed a video player to watch videos, or the eBay viewer to look at eBay advertisements) but it is possible to attach .PDF files to messages posted on the forum. These attachments can then be downloaded by your users and they can view them if they have a PDF viewer (e.g Acrobat Reader) installed on their own computer.

As a demonstration of this idea, look at the message I posted >>> here <<<.

We have also discussed what people need to do to make it possible to allow people to upload PDF files when they post messages on the forum.

You need to check the settings in the backend:

  • Kunena Forum: Configuration » Uploads » Files » Check MIME types
  • Kunena Forum: Configuration » Uploads » Files » Allowed File Types (and make sure that the comma-separated list includes "pdf")

also check the following settings

  • Content » Media Manager » Options » Restrict Uploads
  • Content » Media Manager » Options » [Check MIME Types
  • Content » Media Manager » Options » [Legal Image Extensions (File Types)
  • Content » Media Manager » Options » [Ignored Extensions
  • Content » Media Manager » Options » [Legal MIME Types
  • Content » Media Manager » Options » [Illegal MIME Types

If you are still having problems, it would help if you posted your configuration report so that we can see what you have done.

I am not sure if this helps you with your question about how to embed PDF files in Kunena but I hope it helps you understand how you can upload and attach PDF files to messages posted on the forum.
