Hi sozzled,

thanks for your hint. During the afternoon, I worked through these Javascript library/Mootools documentations. I also tried to disable all of my non-default Joomla extensions, but I just did not manage to find the module causing a library conflict. :(

Now i decided to create a test environment of my Joomla/Kunena installation to make sure I don't destroy my productive website. So I can play with the joomla modules (and deinstall them instead of just disabling them) to see which one causes the problem.

So I used the following steps to create the test site:

1. Created a copy of my joomly directory (as jtest)
2. Exported my MySQL database of the productive site (mysqldump)
3. Created a new MySQL database and imported dump to the new database
4. Changed configuration.php in the new joomla directory (jtest) to match the new database credentials and pathes for the test site
5. Created a subdomain which points to the new joomla directory (jtest)

After login on the test site, I expected to see the same issue on the test site. But after login in on the test site, I noticed that the issue was not copied to the test site! On the copy of my website, the Kunena User profile works perfectly. I'm pretty puzzeled about this!

So what's the problem on my productive site? How can I try to locate the error if I can't reproduce the issue on the test site? Any ideas?

Thanks,
burgwart

@burgwart: Let me see if I correctly understand your situation.

1) You have successfully upgraded to K 3.0.4 on your site

2) The Kunena user profile information does not properly appear on the front-end because you have a Javascript library conflict between some Joomla extension you have installed on your site and Joomla's Mootools Javascript library. This Javascript library problem affects the display of the Javascript-controlled "tabbed" information in the Kunena user profile. This problem has been discussed many times before on the forum. Here are a few places where your particular problem as been asked about before:

If I understand correctly, you have created a test site as a subdomain. There is something different in your test site that allows K 3.0.4 user profiles to display properly; your test site is different from your original, live site.

The solution found by skybax in msg #3 of this topic does not apply to you.

You posted the configuration report of your live site in msg #5. You have not posted the configuration report of your new test site.

I do not know the specific cause of your problem but I think it's fairly safe to say that, in your case, your problem is not caused by the uddeIM notification module. Your problem is caused by some Javascript library conflict. There is something different between your test site and your live site but I do not know what is different.

Hi sozzled!

Yes, your summary is correct. I don't see any difference between my test site and the live site. The only difference is, that the testsite is accessed by subdomain.

I just created another copy of my live site and replaced the old live site by this new copy. And now the problem is gone. Sure, it would be better to understand what caused the problem on the original site. But I have no idea how to track this down. Currently I am happy that I have found a solution to solve the issue for my forum.

Here's the configuration report of the test site, if you want to have a look at it.
Thank you very much for your support.

What caused the problem in the first place was a Javascript library problem; something clobbered Joomla Mootools. I don't know what it was but, typically, the source of the "interference" lies in the use of another Joomla extension that loads its own Javascript library that stops Joomla's Mootools library from working properly.

Because you have replaced your original site with a different set of files, no-one will be able to "track this down" for you. Even with the configuration report that you gave us, it's a bit like wondering "which way the train went by looking at the tracks". ;)

We're pleased that you found the solution to your problem in your case. :)

For others who read this topic and try one of the two methods used in this topic - i.e (a) disable the uddeIM notification module or (b) create copy of their original test site and make it a sub-domain of their original site - the approaches used here may or may not work for them.

The cause of thie issue has always been rooted in Javascript. The best advice that we can offer people is to look at:
