Kunena 6.3.8 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.3.8 [K 6.3.8] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x/5.1.x/5.2.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.3
Note: Please go to the Kunena Dashboard after an upgrade so that the Kunena database tables are also updated.

This category contains miscellaneous, uncategorised user contributions, (templates, modules, plugins and hacks) relating to older versions of Kunena that are no longer supported.

The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural changes that occurred in K 1.7, many of the ideas in these topics will not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.

Important Cubo Pro K1.6 Template + JomSocial: Menu links run together

Question for the experts:

I added Jomsocial and now it makes my forum menu appear like a list. I recreated the forum menu, turned all JomSocial and forum related plugins on and off and tried disabling the integration and celaring all caches but it still looks like a list.

When I change back to the standard Kunena template though, it reverts back to the nicely formatted tags. I am using the Cuboo Pro template for J!1.6.

Thoughts?

I think that you will probably find that the cause of the problem is not JomSocial. Here's a simple test. Try the Blue Eagle template instead. If it works then the problem is not JomSocial or Kunena; the problem is the third-party template that you're using and you are advised to discuss the problem with the author of that template.

If, on the other hand, you still cannot make the situation work using the Blue Eagle template, please let us know.

Sozzled,

Thanks for the reply. I mentioned that I already tried the default template and it indeed works fine with blue eagle.

However,

I did not have this issue until I installed JomSocial. The template worked fine up until then. I have been unable to locate the line to override whatever is killing the tab formatting. TemplateKunena does not appear to responding to any customer issues and there are no other templates that I have seen that have a format like this one.

Do you have any idea where I could look?

thanks
Tiffany

TemplateKunena is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Kunena project. The Kunena project is not responsible for third party developed templates. Sorry.

Obviously. I asked for help not an addendum of ownership.

Next time just say you don't know.

Thanks.

Please read the information printed at the top of this page. This forum is not an opportunity for you to raise issues or make complaints about other sites or other developers. Please do not assume that I do not know the answers. My task, as a forum moderator, is to put you in touch with the resources that will answer your question (not just for your benefit but for others who may read this topic). My task is not to comment on the services offered by other websites. :)

I hope that you understand that I was actually trying to help. However, my knowledge extends only to the standard, default Blue Eagle template supplied with Kunena and not to what other features that other template developer have (or may not have) included in their software.

I posted in the 3rd party topic so I am well aware that Kunena's free and powerful tool owes me nothing. I stated the template maker as I assumed you would be familiar with them. For all I know they are very busy on other projects. I said nothing negative. As far as benefiting others, I search forums daily and even updated a topic on this very forum this morning to make sure anyone looking for info about stack overflow problems that I experienced would benefit from what I learned and know it was not a Kunena issue but rather more likely a template error.

No problems here. I know who you are as a moderator as I have read at least fifty of your posts over the last year gleaning info. I was taken aback by such a turse reply but all is well. I will pay a Joomlancer and continue to search your well documented posts in the future.

My apologies if I have miffed you.

I wasn't offended. I was only trying to explain the situation. :)

Third-party developers and other users are welcome to submit and advertise their offerings to the community. As long as people understand that such offerings do not come with any guarantee of support by this community. We receive hundreds of requests each week concerning problems that people have; some of these may be caused by the template that they have chosen. The best way to establish whether the problem is caused by the template is to test the situation with a standard template.

If people then discover that the situation works with a standard template then this probably establishes some basis for concluding that the problem was caused by the template that they were using when they found the problem in the first place. Under those conditions (and as much as I sympathise with the predicament that some people may find themselves in because of them) the best answer that we can give is to recommend that they discuss those issues directly with the developers of the templates. Failing that, there is always the opportunity to report the existence of the problem - and we thank you for reporting the existence of the problem - or to submit your review on the KED (assuming that you were drawn to the product because it was advertised there) or the JED (if that is where the product was advertised).

But we do need to separate who is responsible for what. This isn't a fruitless, finger-pointing exercise and I'm making not comment about the suitability of other templates. We're here to help you make the best use of Kunena for your purposes.

Have you tested the Blue Eagle template with JomSocial and do you have a problem. Can we establish a baseline? Thanks.

I understand.

I have tested the Blue Eagle template. No issue with this Kunena standard template so yes it must be my template that is misbehaving.

It does not look like it's a core Kunena issue in any way.

Thanks
