The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.
The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

I think that you need to wait K1.6.0, the logic for polls in K1.6 has been rewriten and some bugs has been fixed and the javascript part is based on mootools. It's a waste of time to change the hack.
In K1.6 and in the hack in version 0.3.x.x you can see the top popular polls in "More About Stats" page.

Though it is embarrassing me to announce on my site about availibility of new feature POLLS to members before testing it, I will wait for release of K1.6
I still think separate module to display Popular/Current Poll at homepage or different location would be great addition for K1.6 .
