Similar to sbeaver www.kunena.org/forum/general-questions-a...056-upgrade-problems we have been keeping joomla! and kunena on the most recent versions for years with no significant problems. Currently we are on Kunena 6.3.10 and the upgrade to version 6.4.8 fails due to "ungültiges Erweiterungsupdate".

Jumping to version 7.0 or 7.0.1 are not possible either as upgrades for early versions like 6.3.10 are not supported. You cannot not upgrade Kunena from version 6.3.10, you can only upgrade from version 6.4.5 or higher×WarnungErweiterung „Update“: Erweiterungsspezifische Installationsroutine ist fehlgeschlagen.×dangerFehler bei der Paket-Installation.

What can I do to apply the latest upgrades?

Hello,

If you are on Joomla! 6.0, Kunena 6.4.8 cannot be installed to this Joomla! version so it's why you have the error message. We are going to release a K6.4.9 today which are alowed to be installed on Joomla! 6.0.x

I have already answered at someone else to the same question in this topic :  www.kunena.org/forum/76-Official-Announc...a-5-4-and-6-0#234426

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

after the update the forum was not working anymore - but only when logged in. For guests everything seemed fine.
the error message had to do with an unknown field socials
so, I rolled back to version 6.4.9 from Akeeba Backup, and checked on the dashboard if everything worked. It took very long for the dashboard to open, abd after that the error message that we also had on 6.4.9 disappeared. From the French conversation in the update thread I gathered that it must have something to with the database table kunena_users. When I checked the table I saw a new field was added - socials.
Once I have fully recovered from my backup I will start a new backup and then re-install 7.0.1
Hopefully it works this time

Problem solved - we are now on version 7.0.1 with no further hickups. So it seems important to access the Kunena dashboard in the backend to avoid some front-end error messages regarding missing fields. Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated!
