Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.

Moderate New Users was created by xpatman
Hi
My site uses the basic user levels of Public + Registered with Moderator's using Manager

If I set up new user level with-in the Joomla "User Manager: User Groups" is there a way to limit New Users to posting in just one Category " Self-introductions ".

Moderate New Users only works for ALL Category's

The folks at Community Builder and uddeIM have told me how to limit access to features, so can Kunena help here ??

Kunena 2.0.2
Joomla! 2.5.7

Cheers

K 2.0.2 is out-of-date and unsupported. J! 2.5.7 is also out-of-date.

This is a very interesting topic. If I understand the question correctly, you want that first-time users (or users who have not posted more than a certain number of messages) are to be restricted to using certain categories on your forum.

I am aware that this is a feature of some other forums. This is not currently a feature of Kunena. We have discussed this topic before.

Here are two topics that deal with your question (although there are possibly other topics if you search the forum for them):
  1. How to make it mandatory for a new user to post in a specific category?
  2. [Merged topic] User Groups, User Group Privileges, ACLs

There is a feature in K 2.0 that allows you to moderate new users in the sense that you need to approve the first x messages posted from a user's account and, until the message is approved, such messages will not appear on your forum. I talked about the difference usages of the word "moderate" in this topic: [/forum/K-2-0-General-Questions/126342-moderate-moderator . You are correct. The Moderate New Users applies to all categories.
