Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.
The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.
K 2.0 support will cease on 31 August 2013 and this section of the forum will be closed and archived after that time and no further questions will be answered about this version.
Question Posting as anonymous
This is similar to what I want, but don't want 2 accounts per users. That seems very odd.
My forum is for registered users only, I don't stop people registering. And don't pre approve accounts.
As my forum does discuss illnesses and embarrassing things, I would like to add 1 category that if someone posts into it does not attach that users profile to (no name or avatar). But this category I don't want public.
So for that 1 category it acts like it's public and can be posted to without a registered member, but only for registered members.
Can this be done somehow?
Thanks

As far as whether anonymous posts are able to be traced to a user profile, I really don't know the answer because I, personally, have never tested this. Interesting thought. I'm surprised no one else has raised this matter before. In your testing can you trace anonymous message to someone's account?

I referred your question to the developers.
Although this is something that you can verify for yourself (because I have never used "anonymous posting" in any forum I have managed) the feature that you see in Kunena was carefully designed to protect the identity of people who post in such a manner.
When people post "anonymously" it means exactly that. There is no record kept of the IP address that was used, no userid, name or other identifying characteristics. Of course, as we all know, the site administrator can relate every piece of server activity to its source by sifting through the server log files but that's not something any ordinary person can access.
I think you'll be safe. You should, however, test this yourself for your own complete peace-of-mind.
