There has been much discussion about the lightbox feature. The discussion is not confined to the "new Kunena" upgrade that you referred to.

The lightbox is driven by Javascript. The possible reasons for the lightbox to not work are:

(1) It is disabled in the Kunena configuration.
(2) Your web browser does not support Javascript.
(3) There is a programming error in the lightbox function or the Javascript source was modified, deleted or corrupted in some way.
(4) There exists another Javascript library/set of functions that conflicts with the lightbox functions and causes the lightbox to malfunction or cease to to work.

As you will see, you are not the first to have experienced this kind of problem. Hundreds of people have had problems with Javascript and have found the information in msg #1 of Before you post your question, read this first to have helped them. In nearly all cases, people have found the source of the Javascript library conflict (usually an "extra feature" added when they installed a third-party Joomla template) and have resolved the issue quickly and to their full satisfaction.

Without knowing the specifics of your website, we can only provide you with general information at this time.

There is a simple way to establish that the lightbox does, indeed, operate as well for you as it does in the hundreds of thousands of websites around the world (including this one here at www.kunena.org ) where Kunena is installed. The easiest way to establish that the lightbox works is to build a test Joomla 2.5 website, add nothing to it (except for Kunena) and try it out for yourself; see When all else fails, try this . As you can see, on this website (and on countless thousands of websites around the world where Kunena has been installed) the feature works.

In summary, the lightbox feature is driven by Javascript. The most likely reason that it does not work in your case is for the fourth reason I listed earlier in my reply to you.

Hi

I have encountered the same issue. All was showing well, only upgraded Kunena to latest version and lightbox is not working anymore. I am not saying it's the error from Kunena, cause in browser Chrome, it is working as before. But in Firefox and IE, it's no longer using lightbox. The update triggered the error, that's it. So maybe extra functionality is making the problem to a script?

As far as I understand, it has to do something with Javascript. Can anyone maybe guide me to the right direction, where I should be looking? Is this in the index.php file I need to make changes? I really wonder why in one browser it works, and not in others

In response of previous answers
1. In configuration it's enabled (visible in Chrome)
2. webbrower has JS enabled, cause it worked before the update
3. programming error, how come with only updating one component?
4. why in Chrome no issue, in other it is ?

I even changed template to usual joomla template and issue remains.

Many thanks for any help! AND Kunena form is great, in combination with Tapatalk it is really super!!

All help is appreciated!!
