Hey folks, new to Kunena, but I must say - it's an excellent piece of software!

I am just trying to figure out how a user downloads a file after it is uploaded/attached by the creator of the thread. Going to upload a file here to see if it works here.

Would appreciate any guidance, thanks.

Hmm .. yeah that's odd the file attachment is visible to download here. Is there some kind of setting I need to turn on to get it visible?

Do you have K1.0.x? You should check that the images/fbfiles directories are writable to the Apache server. If you have Joomla 1.5, setting directory permissions is not needed in FTP mode.

I don't understand the problem here. In the first posting, the user uploaded a zero-length .TXT file (obviously, when you try to view it there's nothing to display). If you look any discussion at www.kunena.com that was posted with an attachment you will see that you can view the files (if they can be rendered by the browser) or offered for download (if they can't be rendered by the browser).

.TXT files can't be downloaded. They can be viewed. You can cut-and-paste the text into a text editor (like Notepad) and save the file. .ZIP files are downloaded. .CSV files are downloaded. This is normal browser behaviour.

What, specifically, is the problem? :S

You can save textfiles with right mouseclick -> save under ...

The file above has 0 bytes, I try to attach a txt.file with some bytes / content:
