Hi all!

I think Kunena is a great piece of software - good work everyone!

I would appreciate some help or a pointer in the right direction on the following subject.
First let me say that years ago I started out with Unix and am familiar with access rights designated with 'rwxr-x etc.'.

Here I have installed: Installed version: Kunena 1.0.10 | 2009-05-21 | 1344 [ Parier! ]. Joomla 1.5.10.

I don't seem to understand how to set user access for the Kunena forum and this is what I'm trying to do:

First question
1st level - Main Forum (top) - visible/writable only registered users
1st, 2nd and 3rd sub-category - visible/writable only registerd users
4th sub-category - visible all / writable only registered users

1st level - Public Forum - visible all / writable all, but unregistered users only against verification of email address.
1st, 2nd and X sub-categories - access same as 1st level Public Forum.

I've been fiddling around alot, searching this forum and, of course, the documentation, and also switched the backend to German and back to English, thinking maybe there's a translation error or so. Also, closing and opening browsers (firefox and IE) and logging off as registered user, then back on etc. etc.

My second question is in regard to the German translation in the frontend, i.e. the Search function field displays: _KUNENA_SEARCH_ADVSEARCH. And other fields related to search display similar entries.

Again, I would appreciate either a detailed 'how to' or a pointer in the direction of where to get such - whatever is more convenient to you.

Third question
The 'preview' function does not work when writing a posting.

Q1: Currently Kunena does not have very good forum permissions, but if you have forum where only registered users can write posts this can be done easily:

1st level - Main Forum (top) - visible/writable only registered users
1st, 2nd and 3rd sub-category - visible/writable only registerd users
4th sub-category - visible all / writable only registered users

Unfortunately it's currently not possible to have forum with public write access and forum that is visible for everyone, but only some group can write into it. I believe that better control for forums will be implemented on summer.

Q2: You have missing translation in german translation file.

Q3: This is known bug in K1.0.10.

Q2 please download the translation files for Kunena 1.0.10. Like you can see here, on running Kunena 1.0.10 Forum -> templates.webdesign-welt.de/demo-forum.html?func=search the translation works well.

Thanks all for your prompt replies!

I'll get hold of the trans-files, set up the forum with the momentarily available permissions scheme and sit tight for a possible new implementation.

(On the other hand, aren't those 'bit pushers' :( supposed to be out in the sun instead of all over their programs ...?)

Best to all!
