"Standard" Kunena settings was created by sozzled
I would like to offer some suggestions about "standard" and appropriate settings for Kunena. These suggestions are based on Kunena 1.0.8; they may not be suitable nor appropriate - they may not even exist - in later versions of Kunena. There is no guarantee they are appropriate for everyone ... and everyone will have their own ideas about whether they're right for them. They work for me and that's the only fair claim that I can make.
These suggestions may be helpful if people are having problems in getting Kunena to work on their website. Before you ask questions about why your implementation of Kunena is not working, try the following suggestions - they may save you (and us) a lot of trouble! To make the changes, go to your Joomla administrator backend and select Components » Kunena Forum » Kunena Configuration:Frontend
Security
Avatars
Uploads
Files
Ranking
BBCode
Integration (these settings depend entirely on what other components are installed)

In addition to the basic, "standard" Kunena settings I wrote about yesterday, some people also have problems setting up their forum categories. Here, therefore, are some of my ideas for creating a forum category. As I wrote in my earlier post, there is no guarantee they are appropriate for everyone ... and everyone will have their own ideas about whether they're right for them. They work for me and that's the only fair claim that I can make.
Use Components » Kunena Forum » Forum Administration and select a category to edit:
Moderation of the Forum and Forum moderators

- Forum advanced configuration
- Locked = no
- Public Access Level = Everybody
- Include Child Groups = yes
- Public Access Level = Everybody
- Admin Access Level = Manager
- Include Child Groups = yes (note: I don't understand why this is repeated)
- Review posts = no
- Moderated = yes

Thanks, core2. I thought about submitting an entry there, but I wasn't too sure how to go about it. I'll look at what you've written and see how it looks there. Between us I'm sure we can make it a useful resource.
