Question respond to forum posts via notification email

Does anyone know of a Kunena plug-in that would allow a user to respond to the notification email and have that response post to the forum? Kind of like how google sites works. I've been looking around and can't seem to find a solution.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

This is one of those questions that comes around a few times every year. The last that I read about someone having an idea to implement a solution was in the topic Reply to notification email to post and that was over 3½ years ago.

There was also a bigger discussion on the subject in the topic Posting to Kunena by email . Someone even asked if it might be possible to approve forum posts by email !

There is an extension in the Joomla Extensions Directory—I haven't used it and, therefore, I do not know much about it—called Email to Kunena Forum .

The short answer to this question is that there may be ways to post, reply or perform some other action with Kunena via email. It may be possible to save yourself the 3 or 4 mouseclicks to visit your forum, login, and reply to someone's message instead of just sending a reply to the forum by email; anything is possible but everything has a cost. As far as I know, there is no free plugin for Kunena that will do what you want.

As I have written many times before, it's entirely your choice: pay a few dollars to save a few mouseclicks or accept the "cost" of a few mouseclicks as part of the free software that you're using. ;)

I hope that some of this helps you and others looking for information on the subject.

That's the same extension I mentioned in my earlier reply.

@wk: The number one problem with using email-to-forum software is that there is no easy way to authenticate that the person posting to the forum is the person who would normally login to the site. In other words, let's suppose that you could post a message to your forum by sending an email to [email protected]. OK, so far so good. Your message appears on your forum and it looks like it came from you. Let's suppose that someone else knows your email address: so they send an email also to [email protected]!

If you think about it, if you used some email-to-forum software, anyone (who knows the email address) can post anything they like and no-one knows who really posted those messages on the forum. We've discussed this problem before in some of the other topics on this forum that I've already mentioned.
