We unfortunately do not have much new information to share. We have various team members still working on pieces of the software and those parts are progressing (templating, design, ect.). However we have limited experienced architecture developers that can take the current algorithmic code and have a wide experience and knowledge in how to fix and implement some blocking problems to get Kunena 3.1 ready. I foresee a stalled situation until we get get our time (which relates to cost) of developing Kunena.

Like I have stated in the past, we are interested in bring people in the project. We are looking for someone that has an ambition for PHP 5.4+ oriented projects regarding experience, and an ability to navigate and understand architecture based code rather than fronted oriented code manipulation.

I think, the only way if we will collect the money in a crowd-funding platform (e.g.: Kickstarter, Indiegogo, etc.) for the development and we will hire a (new) developers and we make made a 100% Joomla! framework compatibility new component (and migrator). The new (thin) Kunena (4.0) could be included Joomla! based users, topics, editor etc. management (like ChronoForums). The current Kunena is not forward looking, it is too robust and too complicated for the simple developers, this condition is not sustainable.

@Balazs, are-you a developper ?

Why Kunena is too complicated ? Most of the Kunena logic is in /libraries/kunena and extend JObject class, you mean by forward looking by using namespaces and composer ?

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

In other words, Kunena based code is too large and robust (+ it have lot of legacy code). It had better, if we have a „thin” Kunena (like Joomla! 3.4, 3.5, 3.x without main components), which make maximum use of the services of Joomla! (users, topics, editor management), and if we need more features these functions as plugin connect to the system and not in the main code.

Do you have an email or url for the recruitment process?
I will share that info with a couple of developers here in Dominican Republic.
