Are you going to possibly contact the developer to see if he is interested in working together? It seems like counter-productive to have two people developing the same code base. I think both teams would be much better off putting their time and resources behind one project.

We did that when we started Kunena. Ryan was part of the team for 2 weeks then decided he wants to do it by himself. It was a big surprise to all of us. Best of luck for his work.

Just a word of caution: Please do not run these boards in parallel on the same database. Changes to the structure and fixes make them incompatible with each other and FireBoard.

We love stars on the Joomla Extension Directory . :-)

Thank you for clarifying that matter (about the development timetable), fxtein. It might be a good idea to place a "sticky" on the Announcements message board because, I'm sure, everyone's eagerly awaiting - "it can't happen soon enough" - a fully Jooma 1.5-compatible message forum solution!

The latest scuttlebutt - from a few days ago - is that Kunena 1.5 was to be released "in a few days".

Let me be very clear on this one.

We are working on Kunena 1.5.0 and those that follow the SVN can see the updates. We have a basic version but need to merge some of the 1.0.8 and all of the 1.0.9 fixes into it. An Alpha (non-production) version should be available within 10 days.

Hope this helps!

fxstein,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I look forward to using Kunena and upgrading to the 1.5 version.

I took a quick look at the Frenzy BB, it doesn't seem ready for prime time yet, and other than 1.5 native, I couldn't see much to tempt me away from Kunena. It's a personal thing, but the JomSocial integration seals the deal. I have little interest in Community Builder.

My impression is that the project si dead before it even start. You cannot develop a forum just by yourself, no mater how good you are. you need a team and you need testers, without that the project cannot evolve.
