The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

I went to check the JED tonight and came across a new forum solution posted -
Frenzy! Bulletin Board
. This appears to be a native Joomla 1.5 fork of Fireboard. Has anyone else heard about this? Maybe the developer(s) who is working on that would be interested in contributing to Kunena 1.5 since the codebase is bound to be similar in a lot of ways since both are based off of Fireboard. Any thoughts on this?
Very interesting indeed! Thanks for sharing this information about a Fireboard/Kunena forum clone that, if it's to be believed, is fullyJoomla 1.5 compatible. Still in beta, but it's quite a remarkable achievement.
Indeed! That's what had me so interested! As far as I can tell it seems that only 1 author is working on it and he would certainly know what's involved and some obstacles that could be encountered when converting to 1.5 native. I'm not sure if he's aware of Kunena but the two projects are quite similar in their goal of a Fireboard-based 1.5 native forum solution.
The query cache and plugin system are also interesting...
I was about to download and test Frenzy and decided to post a couple of questions on their support forum; However, I never received the verification e-mail and was unable to activate my account on their web site. I looked for a contact e-mail and could not find any contact information.
At this point I think I will go with Kuena and upgrade to the 1.5 native version when it is available. As you point out, there is strength and stability in numbers.
Is there any reasonable prediction when the 1.5 native version will be available?
The latest scuttlebutt - from a few days ago - is that Kunena 1.5 was to be released "in a few days".
Let me be very clear on this one.
We are working on Kunena 1.5.0 and those that follow the SVN can see the updates. We have a basic version but need to merge some of the 1.0.8 and all of the 1.0.9 fixes into it. An Alpha (non-production) version should be available within 10 days.
