Agora has the ability to limit individual member's access to certain forums rather easily. Kunena, even 1.6 doesn't seem to have that ability without using add on extensions and even then, it isn't an easy task.

There is a very simple but significant difference:
Agora will have your money, Kunena don't.

Hopefully this difference will never be eliminated by Kunena team!

Kunena > Agora

I used Agora for a while and had high hopes. But the support fell to the waste side and when asked would they be looking toward Joomla 1.6 there was no confirmation. I since moved to Kunena and haven't looked back. The community is great here and Kunena is definitely looking toward the future of joomla. Plus you have to pay to use Agora!

I am admining a website that currently uses Agora, and of course now it is a paid-for product access to all the documentation is subscriber only. This makes it very hard for me to find out if they have sorted out all the problems with moderation and administration, particularly the absence of any in-line moderation, or banning from the front-end, and I am unwilling to continue down that road unless I can be sure these things are done.

Of course, that is why I'm here. The fact that Kunena is completely open-source provides some guarantee that similar things will not happen to it in the future.
