I believe it immedeately that this point is'nt trivial.
The main problem is that a category has no members.

In my case: I use GroupJive. There are groups with members. And with a forum, i.e. a category of Kunena. If it is possible to make a mandatory subscription to all members of the group it would be great. But I guess this is difficult.

May be it is easier to enable the manual subscription of a category managed by the user.

Ah, you don't mean subscribe as sending email to every user if there are new posts (Subscribe in Kunena)?

You should ask this feature from GroupJive developers as we let GroupJive to handle permissions for GJ groups.

Yes, I still mean the subscribe as sending email to every user. There are two ways: first the user decide himself to subscribe or not any category. Second way is mandatory subscribing in the case of membership in a special group. The first way is (of course) a Kunena point. The second is not only a GroupJive one, I think.

But it would be really great if the first "normal" way is possible.

Well, like I said, it's something for K1.6+

Is there someone on the Kunena development team that I can pay to integrate this feature into Kunena? I have a site of over 36 thousand users, and they are all complaining that they can not subscribe to Forum Categories anymore (since moving to Kunena from Fireboard).

Someone originally wrote a hack to do this with Fireboard, but I haven't been able to find someone who has done this for Kunena. It is a pressing matter for our business, so I'm willing to pay... and I'd rather the money go to your development team than some random person off joomlancers.com to do this. Thanks! I pray to the gods of old that someone is willing to put some time into this, as waiting for Kunena 1.6 is far to long of a wait :(

This feature is not trivial to add so that it works as expected for a large groups of users. Our new design in Kunena 1.6 allows adding features like this pretty easily compared to the current situation.

What are your needs? If it is mandatory subscribe (automatic emails on news category etc) for all users in a small forum, this should be pretty easy to hack into Kunena. Just subscribe every user to the new thread when it gets added in template/default/post.php (see previous message). You may also want to add if () to do it only in that one category.

We'd like to give the User the ability to click "Subscribe to Category" and not just auto subscribe people, as that could make some people upset :)
