The information that was given to me is that this issue seems only to affect English language implementations and only affects J! 1.6. Other versions of Joomla are not affected ... at least that is what I have been told.

I have the same probelme and just started trying to figure it out.

My first search for this in Google came up with the same problem happening for both of the the yvBBCode and smiley plugins. From reading those forums, apparently the solution in that case was to change a line in the plugin code from "return true" to "return '' ".

I sounds like something is returning "true" and that is getting interpreted as the number 1 and the number 1 is then being displayed. Not up for me to figure out where or why - I give up spending my time trying to debug other people's code - but just thought I'd pass that info on.

Just started using Kunena since I upgraded to Joomla 1.6 - and so far I love it - mostly because it's native to Joomla. (Sick of bridges, jfusion, etc.) Hope you get this little bug fixed. I'll watch this thread - as it seems like there is actually someone on the other end who is concerned in fixing it! (That alone is a welcome sign.)

Yes, we're looking into this matter. The development team wants to see the problem resolved as quickly as possible.

I think I solved the problem of the number "1" being shown in the articles.

I tested the code line by line from file "kunenadiscuss.php"and when I commented the line 235, the number missing.

I wonder if there is some problem in commenting this line, or it was forgotten there by mistake?

If there are no problems

To resolve, delete or Comment line 235: "return true;"

The solution is partially correct.
With this line the number '1' is not present anymore for categories which use the comment system, categories which are excluded for comments still show the nr '1'
