Had some time today to do a clean Joomla install with the latest Yootheme template...no extra extensions added beyond the Yootheme default demo. Same issue with IE9 when posting in Kunena. Lag and loses all site formating for a few seconds while posting in Kunena. So either a conflict with the latest J1.6 Yootheme sites in IE9 or with J1.6.

Deleted Yootheme template and installed bare bones Rockettheme template on a new J1.6.3 install...no other extensions added...same Kunena css/lag post issue in IE9...when posting the entire site clears all css formating for a few seconds showing just text links.

Also does same thing with default Beez2 template in Joomla 1.6.3 and Kunena 1.6.4 in IE9...no extensions added...so has nothing to do with a 3rd party template. Conflict has been Kunena 1.6.4 and Joomla 1.6.3 when posting in IE9.

As you know, there are broken "things" in J! 1.6.3. These "things" may be a show-stopper for you using J! 1.6 or using Kunena and we have to accept that. It ultimately may come down to a question of deciding which is more important at the time: the version of Joomla or the version of Kunena.

As you have also found, this is an issue that only seems to involve IE9 and that, too, may be a factor in making your decision. The Joomla core team is aware of certain issues in IE9 that affect J! 1.6 and some of these things cannot be fixed until Microsoft fixes problems with Internet Explorer.

Our choice of webhost or, in some cases, an individual person's ISP and internet connection, can also make a big difference in terms of performance.

All of these factors may influence how you decide to build your site. If you know that you will not experience these problems using J! 1.5.23 and K 1.6.4 then it may make those decisions easier. That's why it's important to understand why the following information was put in the K 1.6.4 release notes :

If you are in any doubt about whether J! 1.6 is right for you, you should test K 1.6.4 on J! 1.6.3. to form your own opinion of whether J! 1.6 is best for your needs or whether you should use something else.

I will ask the development team to try to isolate the cause of the problem. I cannot say if, or when, we will have an explanation.

The issue does not arise in K 2.0 which does things differently. If this lag is a show-stopper then I recommend K 1.6.4 on J! 1.5.23 or wait a couple of months until K 2.0 is released.

As long as you are aware that K 2.0 will not be publicly available for several more weeks or a couple of months. :)
