Question Submit on Quick Reply fails

fxstein is probably right - without Javascript, pressing the Quick Reply button won't even open a place to enter a post. Yes, it would seem that there's a site-wide issue that you'll need to nail down.

If the submit button does not work it would be two things: The site is running an old version of mootools (1.1.x) or you are using a 3rd party SEF component that is messing with the URLs.

But surely either of those would effect ALL users, not just one?

And in any case, we have no SEF component other than the standard Joomla one, which is enabled. Joomla is 1.5.21.

I do see that "Upgrade" is in red. Does this mean we should enable this? What difference should it make? Is that something I missed in the install instructions?

Yes you should enable the MT Upgrade Plugin. We try our best to auto enable it, but it is definitely best to have it enabled.

OK, thats now enabled, and I've asked that user to start using Quick Reply for all his replies for a while, to see if the problem has gone away. I'll give it a few days then let you know.

I am the user concerned, and found this forum while searching for the problem.

It has just happened again. Several times. The only pattern I can come up with is the time taken to compose my messages. The problems have all occurred with fairly lengthy messages - i.e. >10 minutes to type.

For example, I just typed a long message - clicked submit - no errors, but my message was not there.

I retyped it (again slowly, as I was composing a message to the forum owner at the same time to report the problem), and the problem happened again.

I retyped it (again slowly, as I was googling the problem) - and the problem happened again.

But this time, I had copied the message to the clipboard, so the fourth time of trying was really quick - and it worked.

Is there a timeout or time limit?

Or another thought. I have multiple tabs open (firefox), and am also browsing the forum in other tabs.

I've had a look at the source HTML, and there is some sort of unique/random identifier in a hidden form variable.

Could it be that using the forum in other tabs causes this identifier to become invalidated somehow?
