I have disabled legacy and it was turned on because of mail2joomla or powermail 4 joomla, I don’t remember which one. I have disabled them both but I can still not turn on debug mode and the forum user edit still don’t work. More suggestions?

I had a similar personal experience. I discovered on one of my websites, the same issue: if I turned on debug mode then that was the end of my website. So I decided to leave it alone for about 12 months because it wasn't an urgent problem ... even though I knew, in my mind, that it was an important issue.

The I upgraded to K 1.6!

I was having a few difficulties with the installation and it became vital to use the the Joomla debug feature (which, of course, didn't work) to determine the cause of those problems. So I really had to do something about it. I had to deal with an issue that I'd merely postponed. To deal with my issue I disabled every Joomla extension that I had running, just about everything, and then turned on Joomla debug mode. Sure enough, debug mode worked. Then, one-by-one, I re-enabled all the extensions that I'd disabled and checked to see if debug mode was still working. When I found the extension that caused debug mode to fail, that's the one I had to get rid of. Took me about 30 minutes ... 30 minutes we could have been attending to the Kunena problem instead of attending to my neglect.

That's what you have to do. Let's get debug mode working and then we can solve the case of the I-can't-edit-user-profile-data problem. ;)

Ok, I found two modules that caused the debug problem. JoomlaWatch agent and another one I don’t know the name of, but here is the description:

This module displays output generated from your html/css/javascript code. Type or paste this into the text area provided .To use article content locate the id number. This can be found on its own parameter page or from Article Manager on main Joomla control panel.Styling for some elements of code may be influenced by the site template style rules for modules. You may style these elements individually using module class suffix. Type PHP directly in the code box using PHP mode.

Now debug mode work but profile edit problem is the same. I don’t see any errors in all the debug stuff down at the bottom of the page. I don’t want to paste it here for security reasons. Want me to mail it?

I use Joomlawatch but you need to be using a recent (if not the latest) version. I don't have any issues with Joomlawatch 1.2.9 and debug mode. I don't know the other component that you're running.
