There is a general issue of not being able to access the
Kunena backend - the
Forum Configuration - that we need to address. I'm not saying that the problem is necessarily something that needs to be fixed by the
Kunena project team but I am trying to simplify the complexity of the problem.
If people look at the
K 1.6 Technical Requirements
they will see that they need certain things to run
Kunena but there is no mention in that article about Joomla extensions. The reason that there is no mention of Joomla extensions is because people do not need to have any Joomla extensions in order to run
Kunena.
If people look at the
Kunena 1.6.5 release notes
they will see
general comments about Joomla extensions. In other words, if people want to integrate K 1.6.5 with
Community Builder (for example) then they need to have, as a minimum, CB 1.4. But the release notes do not mention the technical requirements of specific versions of
Community Builder or any other Joomla extension. That's not the concern of the
Kunena project. That's your concern.
The basic problem is this: if a Joomla extension is
capable of being integrated with
Kunena (whether or not the extension is integrated or not) but that extension is not supported on the version of Joomla that is installed, then
Kunena will not work until that unsupported extension is uninstalled. I'm not saying this is what has happened in the cases reported in this topic but I am saying that, if people cannot access the
Forum Configuration feature in the backend there may be other extensions installed that are affecting
Kunena.
