Question Define moderator per (unmoderated) category

Can we not use the word "unmoderated" in the sense of Review posts = No, please?

Yes, completely agree. "moderate" is ambiguous in this context.

Quite possibly I am misunderstanding some aspect of configuring moderators. I haven't been able to figure out how to give category moderators moderation tools since I installed v1.5 last July.

Yes, my global moderators see the moderation tools.

I am running Kunena 1.6.4-DEV because it includes a subscription fix by Matias that we urgently needed.

What I am trying to do here is set up our private forum where we have a group of category moderators doing basic support and housekeeping for each of their respective categories, several global moderators to handle more complex issues, and the admin (me) handling technical chores.

Thanks

The key phrase in all of this discussion is "I haven't been able to figure out how to give category moderators moderation tools since I installed v1.5 last July". I can now appreciate why you consider this matter to be a "feature request".

We need to dispel this myth that category moderators lack the requisite tools to be able to perform the same job as others in respect of discrete categories. We all need this feature. The forum at www.kunena.org would be a mess without this feature.

As you would guess, the forum at this website has a lot of categories that some of us, who are fluent in only one language, could never properly moderate or police as necessary. For example we have categories for French, German, Italian, Spanish, Finnish and Serbian speakers. Not in a million lifetimes would the global moderators be able to handle the additional workload involved in moderating forum topics written in those languages. For instance, how would we know whether what people were writing about conformed to the terms of service that apply to all users? Therefore there exist individual categories for topics in those languages and, to those categories, there are category moderators who have all the privileges of global moderators but only to the extent of those categories. This has been the situation at this website ever since the site was built.

On this basis alone there should be no request for a new feature to be added when essential functionality (as far as I understand what essential tools are needed is concerned) already exists. So this leaves us with the puzzle, "I haven't been able to figure out how to give category moderators moderation tools since I installed v1.5 last July".

There's something wrong here and I would like to get to the bottom of it.

I've now discovered where I was going wrong category moderation. I see that there is a an option under the Category manager called "Review posts". I was confusing this option with the "Moderated" option on the next tab. Sorry about the confusion. This thread can be archived.
