Question few fast question about new kunena 1.6

The Joomla username field should never be used to store email addresses. Joomla has a separate email address field for that.

Think about it. Next somebody put emails into the subject field, or the signature or the hobby column (e.g. within another component). There is no way to hide everything, just because of incorrect usage of columns.

I would strongly recommend against any 3rd party component that sticks email addresses into anything but the email field.

Kunena allows you to pick between username and name (real name) and it consistently uses either one.

Different templates are in general possible through something like a template chooser - but might take a little custom coding. We have not added internal support to override the template by category.

Yep only profile is a place when u see bouth name and (username) even when u pick NAME format [Users: Display User Name: NO, Plug-ins: Show Username: NO, RSS: Author Format: NAME]

Could you add this to a wish/to do list ? I think is a great option and users will love it. Thanks to that u can have only one forum instead of diffrent ones on every site and that main forum will fit to every template of all websites.

Sure here it is. I also notice that this EDIT profile button is not easy to find for some of my users - maybe it can apear somewhere near signature ? Just a thought cause some users have a difficulty to find it

Well - this is what happens if you reverse the meaning of fields.

You have two options with Kunena:

Show the Username or show the Realname.

Username is a name a user picks at registration, real name is first+last name

If you pick to display Username, then only the Username is shown, when you pick Real Name than only the real name is show, except for the profile where the username is in parenthesis.

The username can also used in various SEF URLS independent if username or realname is picked for the display on pages.

As I said before, sticking an email into the username field is not supported and will cause data privacy issue all over Joomla. It's a 'hack' that somebody did, without thinking through the implications.
Never should the email be put anywhere but the email field. Not even sure why that is not obvious to other developers.
