The question (in msg #1 of this topic) is basically, "How do I assign a new moderator in Kunena?"
The text, in the Kunena Category Manager (Moderation tab), is confusing. The following information is relevant to the question "How do I assign a new moderator in Kunena?"
You assign an user account to be a moderator of your forum using the User Administration facility - unfortunately there isn't an article in the Wiki that describes how you do it.
There are two types of moderators: those who are assigned to specific moderated categories and those who are "global moderators" who have moderator privileges across all categories in the forum. It's very important to understand the difference between the category moderator and the global moderator.
Let's say you have a category in your forum called "General/Locked Forum" and you've set this category with Moderated = Yes. You do that with the Category Manager facility.
Let's say that you want to assign a user account to be a moderator of this category (and only this category). See the following image that shows you what you need to use in the User Administration facility.
To assign a user as a global moderator, use the same approach (Kunena User Manager, with Is Moderator = Yes) but, in K 1.7.2, you select "Global Moderator" from the list on the right. For versions of Kunena before K 1.7.2, you do not select any category on from the list to the right of the Is Moderator = Yes selector.
On a related matter, approving new messages so that they are published on the forum - see the Category Manager (Settings tab) - this is done on the frontend of your site. Pending messages (those awaiting your approval) will be shown as an item on the Kunena menu.
