Question Specific Forums For Specific People!

First off I'm new to Joomla 1.7 and Kunena 1.7, and for that matter joomla and kunena all together.

I am trying to setup specific forums for specific people, only way that makes sense to me is with user groups and access levels. For the life of me I cannot get more than one "Private" forums to work, my site is here www.mojoclan.net

If I try to make a second "Private" section then it goes crazy and everyone registered can see it/ the people in that specific group can't, but sometimes can.

Is there a known issue with this not working? (I've searched with no luck)

My goal is to say have "Admin Forums" "Team Forums" "Server Admin Forums" ect. To me this seems simple and I really hope it is! Thanks a lot for the help!

G'day, Mojo_fear, and welcome to Kunena.

Thank you for your question. I suggest you read Sections, Categories, sub-Categories (Part 1) and Sections, Categories, sub-Categories (Part 2) - advanced setup for special groups . Even though this information is a little out-of-date, it's about the best I can suggest in response to your questions.

I also suggest that, in order to have a stable Kunena forum, you consider using the Blue Eagle template instead of relying on a template that was designed for K 1.6.0. The InfinityHU template is not supported by the Kunena project and we cannot guarantee that you will have trouble-free operation if you continue to use it.

You should also read Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) if you want a stable Joomla environment to use SEF URLs.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply, I read all those links.

I had already setup my categories and sections along with Joomla user groups as it states, that is where the confusion comes in. They just don't seem to work correctly. If it truely could be the InfinityHU Template messing it up I'll try it but we went to that because I couldn't get Blue Eagle to match our "dark" theme on our site.

I also did the SEO (Created New Menu) but (It wasn't working before also) When i login as SuperAdmin I don't get those extra Kunena Menu items. My second test account I do get them (Only in registered Group)

Although the second issue is minor compared to the first. Thanks again!

Okay I just realized that I have to SYNC Kunena after I make changes in Joomla User Groups... Like I said I'm a newbie but I'm getting there!

This is still an Issue though "When i login as SuperAdmin I don't get those extra Kunena Menu items. My second test account I do get them (Only in registered Group)"

Thanks!

Sorry I don't know how it Created another TOPIC :/

Yes, that's true. If you make changes to user permissions, you need to clear the Kunena session cache (that's one of the functions of the Synchronize Users feature). Alternatively, have the affected user logout and login again.

I don't quite understand the second question. Is this something that would be better dealt with by creating a separate topic for it?

The topic split was caused by a defect in K 1.7.1 and the reCAPTCHA function. See K 1.7.1 [BUG] reCAPTCHA causes topic split . I've merged the topics back together again for you. No problem, it wasn't your fault (entirely).
