Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

Topics that are moved into this category are generally considered to be closed. Users may want to add additional information but these topics should not be resurrected in order to discuss new problems or unrelated matters.

Idea Protection of categories verry confusing - I need support on it

It shows the user as being in 2 usergroups. is he's in the registered user group he can see the registered users category.

Does this solve it?

Interesting proposal.
And the outcome is more interesting than I had expected.
I removed the registered users group, as show in figure 1.
Then loges on, I expected to see only the Open forum category, but I also had access to the registered user forum.
Conclusion, Kunena only look at logged-on users, en place them in (maybe own) registered group.

Problem Solved! :laugh:

Kunena creates a User Session record. (Table: #__kunena_sessions)
This contains the user restrictions, changes on the Joomla user group membership will only copied when the user session is out dated (in my case 30 minutes).
This is why I couldn't see any change when I added my test account to an other Joomla group.

@Eric Thanks for your answers!

Use Kunena Synchronize Users feature (in the backend) to clear the sessions after you change user privileges. That way you won't have to wait 30 mins.

The other way is to ask the user to logout and login again.
