Hello Kunena,

I'm trying to setup the Kunena forum, but I have problems with the most basic options.
Searched the web, but can't find the proper answers.

Let me first explain what I'm trying to do.

I need a forum with an category where only members of an created joomla group has access to.
Finely this category must be readable for forum guests users.

The things I managed to achieve:

I've created a category that only is shown to registered users.
This Works fine.
But when I add not the registered user group, but an created joomla group to this category,
I can't see the category anywhere.
Even if the user is an member of the created group.

I've read on other threads that the read-only option I need is an issue, but I even can't get the basic things to work. The Manual to me is not clear enough on how to setup those basic things.
I really appreciate all support

Thanks!

I just tested the usergroup functionality and it worked fine for me.

I created a group accessible to registered users and the secondary group to a usergroup I made up.

As long as I'm a member of one of those two groups I can see the category. When not logged in I can't see that category.

Make sure your top level category is set for the usergroups you want to see it. And also set your subcategories.

Thanks Faitwea1 for the response.

Unfortunately this don't work for me.
I'm using Joomla 1.7.3 and Kunena 1.7.1.

See Picture 1, You can see that the user in not a member of forum_users
See Picture 2, You can see the made configuration of the category
See Picture 3, The locked category still shows up.

Do I miss something?

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,

Edwin

btw, your user is a registered user and your category is set for forum_users and registered users to see it. So your registered user should be able to see it.

To only show it to your forum_users group, set the secondary usergroup the same as the primary. So set them both to forum_user

Thanks again fairwea1,

But this didn´t solve the problem.
I´ve changed the settings, see picture 1.
I also added the picture when the forum is shown to the Guest User see picture 2 (just as expected).
When you logon, the second folder shows up, see picture 3 (just as expected).
Then I added the user to the forum_user group see picture 4.
Loged off the user, Loged on again but the result for the user stays the same as picture 3.
The expected category don't show up.

Any idea?

Thanks
