Question GIFs as avatar
People use a gif that is the exact dimensions as the avatar size and it works in the forum posts just not any re-sized images as in the topic view.

I haven't really looked into that kind of thing. Too many animations on a website is a bit too distracting for me; I just like to focus on what's important. Something for people to play with.
May you post the address of one of that forums? I'm curious.
Yes, you're right, but... it's so funny!!! :laugh:sozzled wrote: Too many animations on a website is a bit too distracting for me
Here my animated gif used as avatar (GIMP states that this is a 160x160 pixels image):

Uh! This a good new for me. Unfortunately I cannot view your forum 'cause it's only for registered memebers... ( www.team-e-clan.com/forums-top is the address, right?)
I was suspecting that, by entering an animated gif of the right dimensions, the image should stay untouched. So the animation should work. But... on this Kunema official forum that solution doesn't work.
I mean...
1) I click on the "Profile" tab here
2) then I click on "Change profile picture"
3) then here I came:
Here I have uploaded mu avatar animated gif, but the image have no animation in the forum
So, maybe, you have a particular setting on you forum.
Another thing: why there is the message "maximum width 160px" ? I mean... it does not specify any height... mmmh...

I don't remember the addresses of the places I've seen this done before - I never really took any notice of them (and I don't really have the interest in using it, either) - I just remember that I've seen it done ... somewhere.May you post the address of one of that forums? I'm curious.
Something you might try: try working with animated .GIF files that are the same dimensions as the the thumbnail size (i.e. 64px x 64px).

thetoast is right, I have registered myself on his forum and... some users have a working animated gif as avatar.
So I think that Kunema is "unofficially" supporting animated gifs. Maybe problem in the kunema forum are coming from a particular setting of this forum. I don't know...
I tried to use this image as my avatar on this forum:
but, as usually, no animation is displayed...
Furthers ideas?

Today I have installed Kunena 1.6.3 on my live site. All is working.
The first thing I have done is to change the avatar for the Administrator (me) in the "Profile"->"Edit" tab.
I have uploaded a 120x120 pixel animated gif and... animation run without problems!
So I don't know why on this Kunema forum, the same image is not animated... a mystery...
By the way, in the Kunena Control Panel in Joomla backend, I cannot find where one can put the limitation in pixel-width of the avatar. I have found only a limitation for the total size in kB, but nothing about dimensions...
another mystery...
Anyway... I like Kunema! :woohoo:
