Almost word-for-word identical, aren't they?

I don't know the answer to this question. The Kunena project team does not recommend removing this feature. If other users are aware of how this can be done perhaps they can be persuaded to contact you directly.

I really don't know why this question isn't being allowed to be answered. As far as I can tell, there's no harm in removing that feature. Maybe there's something I'm missing. Can anyone explain why that piece shouldn't be removed? What's the ill effects? It's sort of a pointless feature to have in the first place.

Anyways, look in /components/com_kunena/kunena.php. Do a search for the code and you'll find it.

Kunena is open-source software. This means that people can take the source and adapt it in any way that they like. This doesn't mean, however, that the Kunena project team has to explain how to make changes to the software or to support, endorse, encourage or maintain such changes if, in the opinion of the project team, such issues would lead to confusion or loss of confidence by the community in Kunena. What I have just written, however, is just my personal opinion.

Until such time as there is a change in the current policy, the project team is under no obligation to answer this question.

I know why the Kunena team isn't answering, and I respect and understand that. What I meant was I didn't understand why other users haven't.
But still, the question wasn't answered. Why is it they don't recommend removing this feature? You said they "don't recommend", so if there's a risk in corrupting Kunena, I'd like to know... to stay on the safe side.
