Kunena 7.0.4 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
Question Moderate function disable
haithun wrote: Commenting lines out in source isnt a good thing because of GPL. Now also admins are not able to ban.
Try to write a plugin checking if the user has enough rights and if not it redirects him to the previous page.
Guess that would be the smarter version.
If you dont know how to write a plugin ask me in about two days then I will do that for you but currently I am to busy.^^
I know that it's not a good thing, and that it can cause a bug here and there, but I rather have it like this for now as a temporary fix before one of our moderators starts banning users... And our admins ban users through the administration panel of Joomla..
And thank you very much for the offer

(1) Topic posted in an inappropriate category: The Support category - in which this topic was created - is for things that require support to fix things that are broken. The category description tries to make it fairly clear:
People would make our job, as moderators, a lot easier if they followed these few simple guidelines. This category is for Kunena version 1.6 issues only. For a faster response, please make sure you include your K 1.6 configuration settings report in your posts. We do NOT support test versions. Before asking for support, please read the guides posted as sticky topics in this category.
Please do not use this category to ask for help if K 1.6 does not work for you in the same way as it works here at this website. Please do not use this category to request a change to the standard behaviour of Kunena.
While Joomla 1.6 is still in beta, there is no support for J! 1.6-related issues.
I have moved this topic to the Common Questions category.
(2) Changing - commenting out - source code: Kunena is an open source development licensed under the terms of the GNU GPL. This means that people can take it and change it in any way that they like (as long as they leave the original attributions intact and they do not try to re-distribute the product with the same name). Basically.
If you change the Kunena source files then you are responsible for maintaining it yourself. If, by changing the Kunena source files, you have a problem later, then we are only going to advise you to re-install the standard Kunena source files anyway. We will try to answer your questions as best as we can but, if you change the Kunena source files, we cannot offer the same support to you as we can to people who have not changed Kunena.
(3) Making the feature configurable: I agree with xillibit that, if there is sufficient interest in making this feature a configurable option - that is, have a setting that says "Allow moderators to ban users = Yes/No" - then this might be added in a later version. As far as I'm aware, this is the first time that someone has asked for this feature. To ask for new features, please use the Feature Requests category. This is where members of the development team get a lot of their ideas from. Yes, you can make a difference to the future design of Kunena.
(4) Other, non-technical, options: I don't have any other technical suggestions for ways to restrict your moderators using the ban user feature. If you do not trust their discretion to use the feature wisely then do not give them the ability to use any moderator features at all. In your situation I would simply write to the moderators and ask them to report to the site administrators, cases when they would recommend user banning. I would, therefore, ask you moderators to refrain from using the ban function even though they could use it because they possess the means to use it.
