The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. Aventura: I don't quite know how to answer this question without referring you, in the first place, to what we've been discussing for the past 6 months, to refer you to the article Mootools 1.2.4 in the Wiki and to say, with the utmost respect to your intelligence, that you might need to reconsider your priorities.

As I have said on numerous occasions, the choices that we make determine the outcomes that we get. If your number one priority is to retain your site template, and you discover that your site template causes issues that mean that you cannot use Kunena, then you have an important decision to make. Either you have to work to resolve the issues that cause the conflict - and that might involve rewriting or re-engineering your site template (or paying someone to do the job for you) - or you need to decide what is more important: your template or Kunena. If the template is more important then you may have to give up Kunena because of that choice.

I would also say, to those who tell us "if you don't fix this Mootools problem then I'm going to go with another forum product", fair enough. We hear you but we also need to remind you that other forum developers are, likewise, using Mootools 1.2.4 these days, too. This is not an issue that is confined only to Kunena.

Furthermore, with J! 1.6 now released, and with the Kunena project deeply committed to developing Kunena so that its future is in line with the future direction of Joomla, Mootools 1.2.4 is the way forward.

Anyway, thank you for your question. The answer is that K 1.6 needs Mootools 1.2.4. If that is unsuitable to you then I'm sorry.

triplexxx: please upgrade to K 1.6.2; please also upgrade Kunena Latest and uddeIM to the most recent versions.

The reason that your BBcode menu does not work is because you have a Javascript library conflict with Mootools 1.2.4 .

I didn't mean to sound daft or anything, was just wondering if there was a way to "turn the mootools parts off" that require 1.2.4 so that it works but not as flashily.

It doesn't matter any more as ive gone to J1.6 and am having issues with that on its own lol (Kunena works for the most part though)

Sorry for double post previously by the way :)

Cheers

Aventura: if Mootools 1.2.4 is "turned off" or compromised (in the hundreds of wonderful ways that various software developers have been able to do over the course of time) then this is what will happen:

(1) You can still use Kunena to create new topics, post new messages and reply to topics.

(2) You probably will not be able to edit your Kunena user profile including setting your forum preferences, avatar image, etc.
(3) You may not be able to use the Quick Reply feature and, in some cases, the Quote feature.
(4) You probably will not be able to use the BBcode toolbar to insert Kunena BBcode.
(5) You probably will not be able to use the expand/collapse feature used on various sections of Kunena pages
(6) You probably will not be able to use the Smiley selector to insert emoticons into Kunena messages.
(7) You probably will not be able to use the Kunena user ban features.
(8) You probably will not be able see what messages you posted.
(9) You probably will not be able to use the image lightbox view feature.
(10) You probably will not be able to use the Message Enlarge/Shrink feature.

But if these things are unimportant and they're not the kinds of "flashy" features that you need, then that's what will, in all probability, happen.
