Hi there folks. I have received nothing but the best help from this site, thanks so much.

Our site has been up and running relatively well for about 2 weeks. We redesigned from an old vbulletin site, and some of our users are having constant issues that are outside the "learning curve" of the new forum. I am not having these issues, nor are the other admins, so we are collectively at a loss.

The issue that seems to be the major complaint: The forum is not holding logins. We have set the timeout to something like 27 hours, but most people that are complaining are not even able to browse away from the site, then come back, without having to log back in, despite clicking "remember me". They are not having this issue on other forums or with other sites that req. log in (Facebook was the main example they offered). One other person did say that they have to log in every time they come to this site, but I thought that may be a setting for you guys intentionally. Help?

The owner has asked me to find out more about custom programming within Joomla/Kunena. Is there a resource to find capable programmers for hire? We want someone who wants to work with us, to optimize our site for our users. Our site is a one of a kind resource in our industry, and its not acceptable to us that some of our main contributors are leaving due to usability.

TYIA!

Joomla (and Kunena, by extension) manages how long a user remains logged-in with settings that apply to "session times". The bast way to make deal with issues like yours, in my view, is to make sure that the Kunena session time matches the Joomla session time. 27 hours to remain logged-in is, in my opinion, too long. 5 or 6 hours would probably be more reasonable and, after that time expires, people would have to login again. This seems to be a reasonable compromise from a security point of view.

See Unread forums appear dont appear unread as one example where I have recommended what I think you should be looking at.

When it comes to "custom programming", I am sure there are many capable people who have those skills but, obviously, the cost of doing the work depends on the scope of work that you have in mind. Costs vary but are typically around $100 / hour.
