Hello,

You can edit this text in language file : docs.kunena.org/index.php/Where_is_the_language_file%3F

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

The text of the message "Only community members can participate in this forum. You must register or log in to contribute." is in the language files. As xillibit wrote, please see Where is the language file?

The information has not changed as far as K 1.7.1 is concerned.

If you have set your forum so that only registered users can view the forum, when your registered users logout they will see the message "Only community members can participate in this forum. You must register or log in to contribute." (unless you change the message). Alternatively, you might like to redirect your users, on logout, to another page on your site. You can do that by modifying your login module. I hope this helps.

Hi,

I have installed 1.7.1 Kunena. Everyhting works fine if the user is logged on. If the user isn't logged on and so is a guest they cannot read the forum. I have set in the backend the settings that all forums are public in the category manager but when checking the frontend of the forum then I get this error that I do not have the permissions to view this page.
Are there any additional settings I should keep in mind so that my guests can read the topics and login or register from there if they wish.

Thank You

I have not seen the message "No permission to access this page" - I did not find any results when I searched the forum. Perhaps this is not the exact error message?

Without seeing your Kunena configuration report, I am guessing - and it's always very dangerous when people guess - a whole range of possible reasons why your guests cannot view the forum and the main one depends on the setting Forum Configuration » Security » Security Settings » Registered Users Only = Yes. But, if this is what you have, you should get a different message when guests try to access the forum: "Only community members can participate in this forum. You must register or log in to contribute."

The range of possibilities is probably large enough to write a complete book about how to use Joomla and I don't really have the luxury of that much time. So, this is a puzzle that I don't know how to help you solve because we don't have much in the way of reliable information about the misbehaving website.. One thing that I'm fairly confident about is that this problem is not caused by Kunena (and it probably doesn't have anything to do with Kunena, either). Sounds like an access control or file permissions problem. But, as I mentioned before, I'm guessing.

Sorry if this is really basic. How do I change this message?:

Only community members can participate in this forum. You must register or log in to contribute.

I want to change it so that the forum is open to everyone and guests can see what forum topics there are.

thank you

This is a permission issue, you need to make sure your forum menu and whichever Kunena forum categories you want to be viewable to the public are set to Public.

Log in to your Kunena admin and check the configuration there, and also read the Documentation docs.kunena.org/index.php/Main_Page

Thanks.
