Question "New Topic" option, post is erased if your forget category

Well veeesh, if you look at your own image, you will see above the subject line a category dropdown list that is already selected "Kunena - To Speak!" category. So, you can select any category you want to from that dropdown list. ;0)

All right, I understand why you get the message "-load-: You do not have permissions to access this page!" if you try to post a message to the "Kunena - To Speak" category at this website. The "Kunena - To Speak" category isn't really a category - it is a section and, as you probably remember from Sections, Categories, sub-Categories (Part 1) , you cannot post topics into sections.

So the question for us is why is this happening? Why is it, when users click the New Topic menu option, the submission form displays the first category that happens (in this user's case) to be a section? :dry: That's a good question!

Yes. As it is easy to overlook entering category as it appears filled. It would be smart if there would be a popup indicating that the category needs to be selected and keeps the text. Right now it deletes the message you wrote and gives an odd error message.

First and foremost: you cannot post messages into sections. If you try to post a message into a section you get an error message and then, when you go back to fix up the mistake you made, you've lost the work you've done. The question is how and why is a section displayed in the pull-down list when you use the "New Topic" feature? The answer is that this is a browser issue and, the answer is also, this is not something that most users will ever encounter.

google chrome 5.0.375.125,

yes you are right, it default to category in IE8.
