Do you have upgraded from k1.5.x to k1.6 alpha2 and then to beta1 ?

Please remove whatever other components that require your site to be running Legacy mode. See Joomla legacy mode and Kunena .

At this stage, while we are receiving test reports about K 1.6 - remember, we're not offering support for K 1.6, we're only receiving reports about how well it's working (or not working) - no-one should be running J! 1.5 with legacy mode enabled! :pinch:

At this stage, we're trying to get K 1.6 out as a stable release. The majority of users run J! 1.5 natively (that is they do not run J! 1.5 with the legacy mode enabled). I think that it's unfair on the majority of users that we cannot get K 1.6 as a stable release if we're still receiving reports from users who are running J! 1.0 components on their websites.

We are aware that there are some compatibility issues involving Kunena and other software. uddeIM , sh404SEF, Community Builder and JomSocial are four such examples. There may be others.

The K 1.6 developers have built other diagnostic tools to analyse database issues (that help with upgrade problems) - I don't know how these tools work.

But, before we get to that point, people can do more to help themselves than we can possibly do to help them.

(1) HTTP 500 Internal Server Errors are serious: put Joomla into debug mode, Kunena into debug mode, and let's see the whole message.

(2) SEF problems: if you're running third-party SEF components then ask the developers of those components for their support. If they can't or won't help you then remove those components and just use Joomla SEF. The other alternative is to find/use a different web-based forum component that runs with the third-party SEF product you're using; good luck with that.

(3) Other software also interferes with SEF - even Joomla SEF - and the combination of the two interferes with Kunena. Eliminate this "other" software.

(4) Other software, by itself, interferes with Kunena. Most of the time, this "other" software involves Joomla templates. If look is more important to you than functionality, then you may have to find/use a different web-based forum component that runs with the "other" template that you're using; good luck with that. If you want to solve the problem, then then ask the developers of the "other" template for their support. If they can't or won't help you then remove those components and use a simpler template, like "good ol'" rhuk_rhukmilkyway or JA_Purity.

Lastly:

As I've written before, testing K 1.6 - testing before you upgrade your website - means that you have to make time and, depending on your skill level, you may have to make a lot more time than you might have expected. If you don't have the time then don't make any changes to your website. It's really that simple. B)
