Kunena 7.0.8 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.8 [K 7.0.8] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x./6.1.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
Question Kunena 1.6 errors
I experienced the same kind of HTTP 500 Internal Server error that you had. It isnt a Javascript conflict with Kunena. The problem was caused because I upgraded from an old K 1.5 website (K 1.5.9) and there was an issue with the K 1.6 installation procedure. This problem was solved by using the K 1.6 installation procedure (you use the Joomla installer, select the installation package, press "upload and install" and then use the last button to revert to your old K 1.5.x forum. After that I used the same process to install a new build (which is a later version than the one that is available to normal users.
The problem that you have is caused by a change to the Kunena database tables and there's a later BETA 2 installer that fixes these problems. The K 1.6 BETA 1 installer doesn't perform a database schema check like the K 1.6 BETA 2 version does.
That's what BETA versions of software are designed for: to allow users to try the software out to see what kinds of problems they might have.
If you're prepared to test this later build on your website - remember that there is no support for it if you do - then please PM me your details and I can send it to you. However, I can't do this for everyone and people will have to wait until a new K 1.6 BETA 2 version is made available from our download area.
As always, we remind people that they should not upgrade from K 1.5.x on a live production site until they've properly tested the installation process on a test (copy) site.
I also encountered a few other problems with my upgrade, but these were not solved by K 1.6. I was using older versions of other software that I had integrated with K 1.5.x. They were uddeIM - I was using iddeIM v 1.6 - and Community Builder - I was using CB 1.2.1. If you are using these products then you need to have uddeIM v 2.0 and CB 1.2.3 as a minimum. Likewise, if you are using JomSocial you would need to have the latest JomSocial software installed (whatever that version is called). A couple more things to think about.
Upgrading your website means that you have to make time and, depending on your skill level, you may have to make a lot more time than you might have expected. If you don't have the time then don't make any changes.
