I have the answer for you. Yes, the K 1.6.0a menu is a bit "restrictive" in this regard, but there is a very easy solution to the problem.
When K 1.6 is installed, the installation process creates a Joomla menu (menu type = kunenamenu) as the following screenshot shows:
When you inspect the menu items in this new "Kunena Menu" you will see the following structure:
The issue that you are having is caused by the name of the first menu item. All you have to do is give the "Forum" item a new name (or a new alias, like I've shown in the following image) and your worries are gone.

I see, and I've tried it. It's fine. Thanks. And the ability to rename the other top menu items will be an excellent feature too.

Yes, you can basically relabel, reposition, add and remove the other Kunena menu tabs. Much easier than the kludged methods that we've discussed in the old versions of Kunena. Pretty cool, eh?

This will be incredibly useful and powerful for us. Great architectural work by the Kunena team.

Thanks. Very useful and powerful feature. Here is a question that probably reflects my lack of knowledge of CSS, but if we wanted to highlight one of the Tabs at the top, perhaps by changing the color of the tab, how do we go about doing it.
