In our current Kunena implementation (1.5.12), we've chosen to use a Main Menu item called "Discussions" rather than "Forum". The current system creates url's that have "discussions" (i.e. the main menu item) rather than what seems like hard-coded "forum" as the first element. It's critically important that we have this flexibility to maintain all of our internal and external linkages.

I'm sorry, I don't understand how Kunena has "changed". You could be right but, I thought, the URL names are based on what you've defined in your Joomla site. In other words, if you have a menu whose alias is "forum" you'll get ../forum/... URLs. If your menu item has an alias of "discussions" then you'll get ../discussions/... in the URLs.
Are you saying that Kunena is clobbering a basic Joomla feature? I'm sorry, but this hasn't been my experience to date. Look at the menu alias again. :S

See attached PDF with 3 screen shots. The first two show the URL with "Discussions". The third, when I click and open a specific discussion, shows "Forum". I don't think I've made any other assumptions, and I believe my settings are all OK.

Thank you, kross76. You're quite correct. I've been testing on my own test site and you are correct. I didn't know how to reproduce the conditions that you experienced. Yes, it looks as though the issue does not entirely lie in the Joomla "world" but is caused by the Kunena menu. I'll report this to the development team.
