Joomla has a very weird alias system...

I suggest you do the following :
-delete and trash all kunena menus from the "kunena menu" module and the "main menu". Just list all the "main menu" modules and delete anything associated with kunena.
-go to you main menu and create a new menu item, associate with kunena main page.
-change the "alias" part with a unique one, do not use the word FORUM in it. No "forum". tried it in many differen forms just does not work. Find something else, use abbreviations. Something like "kunenaf".
-clear your browser cache and try the main kunena link. It should work now.
-if you wish to create a separate kunena menu -which you do not have to- then please choose another alias for this main kunena link. If you use the same one, it loops again. (tried it many times)
This fixed my problem and sounds like fixed many others' too.
Do not turn off the SEO function if you need SEO function. This has nothing to do with the problem but somewhat solves it.

It looks like having the same menu alias results of undefined behavior in Joomla 1.5. It also looks like Joomla 1.6 does everything to prevent this from happening.
