When you migrate from fireboard to kunena (1.0.10 or 1.5.3 doesn't matter)
there could be a problem with the old messages.

In this post www.kunena.com/forum/105-solved--support/7678-invisible-post
somebody claims the problem was solved but it is not.

Trying a migration a couple a day ago, the same problem came up.

Some emoticons appeared, others not, and in the text of the message you can find this thing:
Code:
<img src="localhost/joomla/components/com_kunena/t...sh/emoticons/<img src="localhost/joomla/components/com_kunena/t...agliordini.gif" alt="" style="vertical-align: middle;border:0px;" />.gif" alt="" style="vertical-align: middle;border:0px;" />

As you can see, it is as kunena inserts a complete image tag within another instead of simply adds the name of the appropriate gif for that emoticons.

In my production website, I'm still with fireboard because of that (and I'm worried about resulting security problems of that choice)

Can you provide some of those emoticon codes to us? Do you know the filenames also?

Well, this is the situation:

From the editor:
tutto ok grazie.
E' stata solo dimenticanza. Lunedi li chiudo. occhiolino

From the thread in the message board
tutto ok grazie.
E' stata solo dimenticanza. Lunedi li chiudo. .gif" alt="" style="vertical-align: middle;border:0px;" />

From the Kunena admin panel

From phpadmin (emoticons table)

I selected a template named dorona_ex with Image sets dorona_ex too.

occhiolino.gif is in public_html/components/com_kunena/template/dorona_ex/images/english/emoticons

As I said previously, this is an upgrade from fireboard 1.0.5 where everything was working fine.

Everything seems correct, so I think the problem could be in the code somewhere.

If I post a new message, with occhiolino emoticons ... same problem.

I have a theory - which I haven't been able to prove - that Kunena doesn't properly resolve the emoticon image path when displaying posted messages. Yet the Kunena smiley management function does address the emoticon image path correctly (even though it doesn't handle the assignment of "-grey" images ... something you have to do with MySQL).

My workaround to this problem is a bit "clunky" but it seems to do the job.

The smiley images that you want are stored in the folder ../components/com_kunena/template/dorona_ex/images/english/emoticons. If you copy all those files to the folder ../components/com_kunena/template/default/images/english/emoticons I think you will fix your problem.

I have to admit that this is more folklore than science and I've been doing this ever since the days of K 1.0.7b (maybe even earlier!). My recollection is that I needed to copy of all my emoticon images from the folder I'd chosen in the Kunena configuration settings (e.g. default_ex) to the default folder as well. I can't confirm that this is the case but it's something you might like to try. :)

Perhaps other people can shed more information on this mystery?

An upgrade problem not solved ...

I don't understand why this thread was closed for the second time.
However, the problem is still there ... I tried what sozzled suggest, but without success. I still sadly with the old fireboard ... :( fearing for security ...
I can't put kunena on my production server if it does a mess with my messages ...

Could it be possibile to have at least a hint? Where could it be the problem?
Which function manages the emoticons and can cause the problem?

Hello,

Do you have tried with Kunena 1.5.5 and the template default_ex ?

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

I upgraded to 1.5.6 ... there is no way ...

The problem is not solved. Of course there is a bug in the parser who translate the selected words in the appropiate emoticon links.
Code:
<img src="localhost/joomla/components/com_kunena/template/dorona_ex/images/english/emoticons/<img src="localhost/joomla/components/com_kunena/template/dorona_ex/images/english/emoticons/occhiolino.gif" alt="" style="vertical-align: middle;border:0px;" />.gif" alt="" style="vertical-align: middle;border:0px;" />

As you can see and as I previously described kunena put an entire img tag within the other instead of put there simple the right world odentifying the right gif.

I got it!!

If you have the code equal to the name of your icon file it doesn't work.

Es. emoticons code:ehila
filename:ehila.gif

This is not an upgrade problem, it regards the forum code.

I don't know if it should be tagged as BUG or something else,
but I think it deserves attention.
