I just want to edit or set new faces which are ALREADY in Kunena, no need to FTP for now, still it doesn't work. There are three or four bigger smileys in Kunena but I can't understand how you get them to the front end. I published a snapshot so that someone might tell me for that specific example, maybe then I'll understand.
By things messed up I mean that the faces I edited or created just don't show or show as different from the ones in the left gallery besides the post.
Can someone see the bigger face I attached? How the heck am I supposed to make it work in the front end? I read the Smiley Management and followed the steps but it only works for deleting, the rest is frankly incorrect as I followed the steps and it's useless.

I can see the "bigger face" in your earlier posting but I still don't understand what difficulty you are having ... and I am trying to help you.

Where have you stored these new smileys of yours? When you made the assocation between [colon]+x and your "big face", did you save it? What happens when you look at messages that have [colon]+x in them?

What we may need to do is to search these forums to see what other problems people have had that may touch on what's going wrong in your case. Would that be a worthwhile investment of your time? :S

That's just it, I haven't stored anything, they are not NEW smileys, that bigger face was already there when I looked at edit emoticons, amongst others bigger faces.

Of course I saved it.

Nothing happens when I look at messages that have [colon]+x in them, yet the bigger face appears in the Emoticons bar.

I already searched the Forum and didn't find anything, but what do I know? If you can't understand the problem how can I?

ok i have been watching the thread grow and trying to work out what exactly is happening to this user and what he is trying to do, so i will start to try and unravel what is going on.

1. Please keep the answer you give polite and to the point otherwise i will stop helping

2. What version of kunena, joomla are you using and what template ?

3. The reason that you see the emoticons more than once on the emoticon manager is because each one the user has the ability to use either and upper or lower case letter, just like how Emoticons work in programs like MSN live messenger.

4. i have logged into the FTP for my own site andchecked the emoticon directory and i can only see the default emoticons and no other BIGGER ones, so im guess ing that your not going to tell me your using default_ex in my second question above.

Conclusion:

There is nothing wrong with the emoticon manager, this user is have an issue because he is using a none standard template that does not fully support the latest version of kunena this is why the devs/moderator here at kunena.com only have one one supported template and that is DEFAULT_EX and no others as some can cause users and site admins alot of issues.

Solution:

1. Use the default_ex template and upload more emoticons to the com_kunena/template/default_ex/images/english/emoticons/ directory and use your newly uploaded emitcons and away you go.

or

2. Use your custom template and find the error in there code that is showing the none existent smilies and then upload your own ones to the com_kunena/template/default_ex/images/english/emoticons/ directory and use your newly uploaded emitcons and away you go.

Oh! Cheers. It never occurred to me that the errors could be in the template I'm using(default_ex_pink), yet I recall @quila warning me about template bugs... sorry.

Please do mark this as solved. Although it's not really solved I'm just giving up now I know it's the template's fault. Nothing works, neither editing nor adding new ones (FTPing to English and Italian folder), I can only delete, so I deleted the double ones and I'll keep this faulty template for now.

Thanks anyway guys
