Smileys/Emoticons was created by Alistair
Can you please point me where I can learn from zero how the smileys work?
I tried to change some of them but it just didn't work, back-end they seem fine but front-end are messed up. Cheers

I just saw that there are a few bigger smileys available, so I got rid of a few double smileys and replaced them with the new ones, except in the front end you click on the new face and what actually displays is a totally different one, if you have to change to code or do anything else I just don't undesrtand....

The fact that also on this forum you keep double faces makes me think it should stay that way, although I find it a bit bizarre.. (you have two woohoo, two laugh, two side, two S, well.. basically it's all double, isn't it?)

It's not quite accurate to say that there are doubles of all the smileys used in Kunena or used at Kunena.com. There are "regular" smileys in colour and there are grey "versions" of those smileys. The normal, regular, smileys in colour appear in messages when users view your forum. The grey versions appear when you are editing a new message (when you press the preview button) and in the thread history.

The basic guide to smiley management is described in Smiley management . There's a bit of a trick to setup the grey versions so that they work in the preview: see Problem emotion in preview .

I hope this helps explain things a little better. Please reply soon. :)

Hiya, I read the instructions and gave it another go but I just seem to mess things up. Is that okay if I give you a practical example so maybe I get it?

See the attached snapshot

and suppose I want to get rid of the :x (because it's actually double on my Kunena as there is another identical one with a capital X), and want to add the bigger face (as in the picture) or any other one, for instance the thumbs up or down or else, what are the steps I should follow?

I'm sorry but I don't understand how you've "messed things up" - would you please explain what you mean?

How do you delete a smiley? Use the delete function. It's all explained in Smiley management .

How do you create new smileys? Well, you have to have the images stored on your PC, of course (I assume you know that), and then you have to upload those files to to your website (using something like FTP - that point wasn't explicitly stated in the documentation) and make sure they are stored in the right place and then you can associate your BBcode with the image that you've uploaded. All clear now?
