Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.
The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.
Question [Resolved] FB -> Kunena, next one
I know there are plenty of threads around and yes, I found quite some topics, but still something left I can't answer.
What I updated so far:
Joomla 1.5.15
Fireboard 1.05 RC2
Community Builder 1.2.2
UddeIM 2.0
GroupJive - not installed (I guess it's not needed for Kunena?)
JomSocial - not installed (I guess it's not needed for Kunena?)
The reason I still have questions are, that I never made the website I am "administrating" now. The one who made it left our gaming community long ago and then I was the one, who didn't say "NO!" fast enough, when the question came up who continues his work...
I updated all the components and now there are questions left concerning docs.kunena.com/index.php/How_to_Install_or_Upgrade_Kunena
2. You are using the default_ex template
That old webmaster set the template to "red_darkness". Using google (red_darkness + Firebord) show me some hits, that make me think that this theme was part of the initial installation of Fireboard 1.0.4 (which I already updated to 1.05 RC2). Is the "red_darkness" theme now based on the "default_ex" template and just got renamed by the authors? And the old webmaster manipulated the .css-file from "red_darkness", is that a problem?
Cause if it is based on default or default_ex, then I could try to install Kunena 1.5.3 and try out the instructions listed @ docs.kunena.com/index.php/Convert_FB_Template . If that works all fine, I update to the latest Kunena version afterwards. Are my thoughts reasonable?
3. You have only English installed
Well, I assume this, since there is only the "english.php" file in the FTP-directory??
Sorry for my noob questions, before that website, I NEVER had to do anything with php, html or whatever.
Thank you and all the best,
Oliver

Hello,Hello folks,

You don't need Jomsocial or GroupJive to install Kunena, this two things is for particular needs.

The template which are provided by default in FB are the almost the same that in K1.0.x or K1.5.x, but the template red_darkness is a template customized. Maybe, you will find a similar template for Kunena here, just check that the template is made for the kunena version that you will have. The template made for FB doesn't work on Kunena, because there are a bit of logic in the template.

No problems with the language file, because for Kunena you will find a lot of language file.

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

thank you for the fast answer!
So, lets see if I got that right: Actually the easiest thing would be to simply find an existing Kunena template - which is close to my current - and then invest the time and make the few changes by myself?

Well, I hopefully will have the latest version! But your sentence lets me think, that there are compatibility problems with themes and certain Kunena-versions. What does this mean for future-upgrades of Kunena? Might the theme not work then anymore?
All the best,
Oliver
EDIT: I just tried to find a site with a full collection of Kunena-themes, you might have a link?

Will install now Kunena 1.5.9 on my XAMPP-offline-website on the laptop and see what happens
All the best,
Oliver
P.S.: I use Firebug already, thank you for the extra tip.

If you want a certain theme built, i can do that for a fee.
FYI: when K1.6 is released all themes will have to be redone to work as its theme engine is different from K1.5x
