I'm just wondering if this problem has been addressed in the latest release - or whether it will be addressed in future releases.

Animated avatars, I believe because they are resized, lose their animation when they are uploaded.

Is there a fix for this yet?

Thanks.

Hello,

there are no news about this, this feature isn't considered to be integrated in a future release, with php you have the library GD which manage the images, but this doesn't support animated images :( .

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

Set image processing to none. Unfortunately it does not resize images and breaks IE6 support.

This has just been brought to my attention on my forum as well, it would be good if the forum could handle animated gif. Also having issues with PNG files not being transparent, is this a GD issue as well?

GD does not support animations or transparency. The only solution to this is not to use it. Unfortunately wrong sized images will break layout in IE6 (in the others it just slows down page load).

This is really disappointing. I have just upgraded my kunena forum to the latest version and I have lost all my forum members animated avatars. they are really cheesed off. I remember having no animations in my first version, but I changed some settings and then it worked. ( even when all these forums said it was not possible) Unfortunately I cannot remember what I did, and now the new avater menu in the control panel is more limited so there is nothing to change.
how do you stop kuena from reducing the quality of the gif. I cannot beleive that animated avatars are not possible, forum members expect them in 2010
